Fort Worth Songwriters Association: Membership Profiles

Rose Jeffus

Rose was born near Gatesville, Texas, which was designated by the State of Texas as the "Spur Capital of Texas" for the largest spur collection in the world. She grew up mainly in West Texas but has claimed Fort Worth as her home for many years.
Rose's love for music began at a very early age, as she sat on her father's lap, listening to his harmonica renditions of Jimmy Rogers' blues music. Listening to the Grand Ole Opry on the radio every Saturday night would become a lasting influence toward country music for her. The stories she heard in the songs on the Opry inspired her to write poems and songs as a small child.
Later in life, Rose developed a passion for all forms of artistic media. She began her own wedding cake decorating/catering service, expanding to a full scale catering business. This work included custom designed wedding attire, flowers, cakes, rehearsal dinners, and the planning and management of the entire event. Then as time permitted, Rose started art lessons and received a certification for teaching tole painting. She then worked in art restoration and was privileged to work on the restoration of James Walker's famous 30 x 13 foot painting , "The Battle of Lookout Mountain" located in Ochs Museum at Point Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Rose began to spend her time involved in community service work. This work led to many years of holding office of varying levels for a multitude of non-profit organizations. Her interest turned towards the music industry and Rose began to focus her attention in that area. During a time where there was an absence of any local music association for support to the artist, Rose was approached repeatedly by many artists to found one. Thus, the Lone Star Music Association was born in 1997. During this time, she opened her own artist management business. She has many credits of recognition on artist projects, (one being nominated for a Grammy Award) for those efforts.
Rose presently serves on the Advisory Board of Fort Worth Song Writer's Association. While serving two years as the President of the FWSA in the past, she was the recipient of the "Songwriter Association of the Year" Award from the Tennessee Country Music Alliance. She was honored to teach a workshop on songwriting at the TCMA's 2nd Annual Showcase and Award Show. She received the Golden Eagle Award at the "Best of Texas Awards" for Songwriter Association Achievement from the Lone Star State Country Music Association. Rose was Treasurer for Fort Worth Songwriters Association in 2004-2005 and also spent those two years as co-owner of Treasure Chest Promotions. She was recently asked by the Owner of a local Opry to act as a Consultant and Talent Scout. She was honored to have the Yellow Rose Opry Band named after her due to her 30 years of local community service work.
Rose has recently accepted the position of Vice President, Operations, with WINNERS RECORDS AND WINNERS CIRCLE MUSIC PUBLISHING (WCMP). As part owner of the firm, she undoubtedly will become a key player and contributor to the success of WCMP.
Rose feels that a positive attitude and giving of herself to others has enabled her to explore her full potential while gaining respect and success.
